A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

You are a lone explorer sent to explore a strange new exoplanet. There's just one problem:

The Fog

The Fog is a survival game which takes place in a murky swamp. But this is no ordinary swamp: thick fog rolls in and out on a regular, 30 second interval. It brings with it mysterious - and deadly - entities. Index Company scientists have attempted to study them, but to no avail - nobody has ever survived an encounter. The few photos that have been recovered were a jumbled mess. We believe, however, that we have found a solution in this sector: Lasers. Ancient ones.

How to Play

The objective is simple: Activate 5 lasers to disperse the fog.

Controls:

  • WASD: Move
  • E: Interact
  • Left Click: Use Item
  • Ctrl: Crouch

Not much is known about the entities except that their only function is to kill you. You cannot outrun them, you cannot fight them, but you can hide! They can't see far through the fog or through obstacles. Sound, however, can alert them from much further. Making noise by walking upright will cause them to lock on to your exact location.

Pro tip: The entities cannot hear you while crouching! It is also harder for them to see you!

To help deal with the entities, the Index Company has generously provided several pieces of equipment. However, our dropship got lost in the fog and crashed, scattering the items all over the place. Still, they might be useful when you find them. Here's what we got:

  • The Distractotron: Can be thrown like a grenade, and produces a loud ping sound when it lands. This can distract the entities, luring them away and allowing a narrow escape. The ping happens once, and the device is single use. Brilliant design.
  •  ZUM Energy Drinks: This are a new energy drink that only contains a teensy amount of a totally safe experimental drug. Drinking this stuff briefly allows you to move much more quickly than usual, fast enough to outrun the entities - or it gives you a heart attack.
  • The Watch of Truth: Sourced only from ethical time crystals, this device does not do time travel. Instead, it simply tricks the planet into adding 10 seconds to the timer! Yes, we used a small amount of radioactive material to make the watch face glow in the dark. That is not the time crystal.
